Baptist Church

Location:

150 Wortley Road, London, ON

Currently an apartment building, I have always loved the aesthetic of this repurposed church (Figure 11). While exploring I found the placard on the right pillar in Figure 12 that reads “South London Baptist Church A.D. 1897”. The blue arrow is to show where I took the closeup photograph from. It appears that the placard may be an original feature as something similar in size in the historic picture of the church (Figure 13). I appreciate what I perceive to be a perfect balance of the old and new features of this building. It is a highly sought-after location to live partly due to the uniqueness of the building and also the location, the heart of Wortley Village. Although I’m sure the interior is “newer,” the external church structure is preserved.
